Here for our customers for 100 years.

Back in 1920, a Wellington man by the name of Robert Lorimer Button (RLB) went into business as a general merchant, dealing in imported goods from all over the world. As Robert unpacked those products from the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and South East Asia and dreamed of building a thriving business, he would never have guessed his legacy would still be going strong a century later.

These days, with Robert’s family still at the helm, R.L Button & Co Limited is RLB Packaging, one of New Zealand’s leading packaging and wrapping suppliers. We are sincerely grateful to still be striving and thriving after 100 years. We would like to humbly thank our loyal customers and business partners for helping us to come so far.

Throughout our four generations of history, we’ve always tried to retain our founder’s spirit, priding ourselves on our personable approach, integrity and customer focus. We are hugely proud to have such a talented team of individuals who have supported our family company throughout our history, that are so passionate and committed to helping service our customers and advance our efforts in the industry. Our purpose is simple: make a positive difference to our customers, our team and our communities.

RLB Packaging at 100 is a different looking business to the one that Robert founded. Over the past 50 years our focus has evolved, along with our customer’s needs. In partnership with our loyal local and global suppliers, we provide customers across New Zealand with expertise, innovation and unique packaging solutions. We have physical locations in Auckland and Christchurch, and sales and service presence all over the country.

Achieving 100 years in business is a rare thing in New Zealand. We immensely proud to join a select group of companies who have been able to mark this historic milestone.

RLB 1000 Hours Project

For almost 100 years, RLB have placed a huge emphasis on giving back to our communities and helping Kiwis in need.

In 2020, we have decided as a team to also give our time. Through our RLB 1,000 Hours Project we will be giving one thousand hours of our teams time over the next twelve months to support the fantastic work that both the Auckland City Mission and Christchurch City Mission provide to our communities.

We believe that through our people and our time we can make a positive difference to our communities. We support a number of charities and community projects but on top of this we want to get closer to the City Missions to support the fantastic work that they are doing in both the North and South Islands. Our team will largely participate in packing emergency food parcels for struggling families, sorting donated clothing and household items, supporting with night shelter meals.

We encourage you to check out the fantastic initiatives that both the Auckland City Mission and Christchurch City Mission provide to improve the quality of people’s lives and enable them to be more self sufficient.
